Blepharoplasty (eyelids)

 

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is a rejuvenation technique for the upper and lower eyelids.

It is a straightforward procedure with an uncomplicated postoperative period and long-lasting results in patients. The intervention is quick and delivers very good facial rejuvenation results.

Upper eyelids

On the upper eyelids, when there is excess skin, intervention is recommended as their condition impairs vision and causes the ocular muscle to suffer and lose effectiveness. Patients with these characteristics may appear tired and uncomfortable due to the sensitivity and reaction of the eyelids (inflammation). In most cases, this intervention is performed under local anesthesia.

Lower eyelids:

Around the eyeball, there is fat that serves to cushion head movements and protect the eye from damage. These so-called fat or palpebral bags, over time and inevitably with age, accumulate in the lower eyelid, creating a bulge and a tired appearance in patients.

There are three bags in a single eyelid—inner, middle, and outer—which, with the help of the intervention, would be removed, and the palpebral muscle would be tightened to adhere to its plane, thus providing a youthful appearance with a concavity on the dorsum and palpebral area. This way, the patient’s youthful look is restored. It is normally performed under local anesthesia.
