Otoplasty
The otoplasty or ear surgery corrects both the position and the shape of the patient’s ears.
Sticking-out ears, ear protrusion, bat ears are different expressions of the same problem. A procedure called otoplasty, under local anesthesia and on an outpatient basis, can eliminate these defects, which will persist if the procedure is not performed.
It is a common operation in children, as this condition can generate a significant self-esteem issue arising from their relationships with other children. Similarly, it is also common in older patients, with procedures being performed on patients over 60 who have carried this problem throughout their lives.
With otoplasty, proper ear shape and position are achieved and a protruding auricle is eliminated.
The most important thing for the patient in these cases is the preservation of their own image with the nasal defect corrected, so that neither family nor friends notice that surgery has been performed.
